What if no one bids for the CN_ZERO images via ebay.com?

Will this constitute some type of failure? Will restlessculture
still betray itself?
Maybe it will be a testament to faith in the gallery system as the continued brokers of choice for art and taste. Maybe it will just result in the lack of pocket change for me thus confirming that restlessculture still manages to evade a direct form of profit. Thus far I think it is interesting to consider these ebay.com auctions as sacrificial rituals that "purify" restlessculture and ensure its continued vitality and movement, i.e. life outside immediate and easy commodification. |

How do you expect to change
anything using images like the following?
http://www.whitney.org/artport/gatepages/artists/peppermint/images/cn0_img4.gif
My work functions as a networked performance of many divergent data bases and hyper-links. To isolate and attempt a reading of a singular component of my work outside the hyper-weave of context (made possible by the net) is the only real method one could employ toward completely mis-understanding this work. I do not work with the intention of changing anything. This work is creative-play. I do not expect any stark, obvious, or otherwise "revolutionary" results for this work. One is a radical, i.e. a cultural producer because they commit their life toward the gesture of imagining anything other than what is prescribed for through western consumer ideology. I work to keep imagination alive through any network into which I may gain access, e.g. streets, galleries, institutions, internet, video, etc. any platform for dissemination of art/information.
What is with all these washed out faces rendered without identity by bright lights?
This is not decision based on gender (the images in question are not even gender specific) but moreover a decision informed by 1st world privledge. All images of cultural producers who labor under the auspices of corporate/capitalist globalization must be rendered invisible, immersed in the spectacle, the blinding ether of information at the speed of light. "overexposed" for the duration of Conductor Number Zero. This is how I choose to represent the seemingly impossibility of creative work immersed within the spectacle of accelerated capitalism unchecked. (of course the irony of impossibility is that possibility is revealed - C.P. 2004)
Are you the anti-christ?
No. That would be a simple game of which the binary structure is already too widely known and even today still oftentimes blindly accepted and employed (fundamentalism, "the war on terrorism", i.e. "moral imperatives"). At this time in history I think the job of anti-christ is well practiced, cynical, and un-inspired work.
Are you doing all this
for self-recognition?
Ask better questions.
Is this FAQ a component of a much larger and
ongoing performative structure?
Yes.
